Swimathon 2010
I’d like to firstly say a massive thank you to everyone that sponsored me. Thank you for your support and thanks for helping Marie Curie Cancer Care to make a difference to the lives of thousands of terminally ill people by providing free care from Marie Curie Nurses.

My sponsored Swimathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care
On Friday 16th April 2010 at 4pm, I completed a 5km Swimathon at London Fields Lido. The only experience I’d had swimming in an Olympic sized pool was in the Piscine Suzanne Berlioux in Châtelet, Paris, which is brilliant, but that is indoors so very different…It was pretty exhausting as the water seemed heavy and the lanes were busy. 100 Olympic lengths (50m) seemed less somehow than 200 in a 25 meter pool, but it was pretty unforgiving and I felt every single length! haha – It was a bit like driving Miles or Kilometres in the sense that when you’re driving abroad in Km the numbers come down real quick so you feel like you’re really getting somewhere where as Miles take longer. Anyhoo, the sun was out and I smashed my time from last year. I did crawl the whole way as when I tried 1 length of breaststroke my left leg started to crap up and that really hurt (not had that before). Luckily I’d vaselined my arms so no chapping this year – phew!
My time was 1 hour 38 mins 37 seconds.
If you didn’t sponsor me and would like to, you have until June 2010 to add funds – just visit my sponsorship page here
